During the last weeks, since the closure of HQ, I have been following the comments from all kind of people. Aaron has said very little, and nothing in public, on that. Quite recently the homepage of Housequake.com changed including a cryptic "38:II" quote. This led to all kind of speculations on its meaning, and on the possible messages behind that quote.
I have no direct information, so it is not up to me to say what is the meaning, and besides I won't speculate. Aaron knows why did he include such quote in the homepage, and the reasons/goals that prompted him for doing it are unknown to me.
Now, one thing is clear: Aaron has been running HQ for more than ten years, and only god knows what he had to endure along that time in order to keep on running such a large community. And I am not only meaning unreasonable requests from famous musicians, but also the behaviour of many people in the community.
In Spain there is an old sentence stating "Es fácil ver los toros desde la barrera", which means it is very easy to criticize the behaviour of others when you are not in their role. If you had the possibility of putting yourself into such role, probably you would understand much better some facts.
My point is that I have the highest respect for Aaron's labour during all those years. Independently of my opinion/understanding on some facts, of the present or of the past, I think he's got a track record which deserves a huge respect, instead of cheap words addressing situations unknown to me; or, using a famous song title, "talking loud and saying nothing".
Yet it's obvious not everybody thinks the same.
Who is 'talking loud and saying nothing'?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you mentioned the 'cryptic' quote. Along with others, I assumed that version 2 would be on line on March 8th. It's the 12th now and still nothing, so one can only assume the quote bears no reference to the date (or could it mean August 3rd?).
ReplyDeleteI have to admit i'm little (just a little) annoyed at the ambiguity of it all, especially since Prince is infamous for doing such things. Maybe I'm way off the mark, but perhaps Aaron shouldn't have included the message without an explanation. Of course, it is his website and he's completely justified in doing whatever he wants with it, but speaking as a fan of Prince, and with how 'important' i found HQ to be as such, it's like he's 'playing' us, when really he should be the last person to do such things. We already have a lot of cryptic messages to handle already.
But, like i said, maybe I have taken this all out of context - but all the specualtion just goes to show what HQ meant to us.
It's just not the same with HQ. Something's been lost, but I hope not forever.
regards,
Boscho
Hey Boscho, I understand what you mean.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have recent contact with Aaron, so I can not speak for him.
But I have the feeling that the quote posted in the home page of HQ has one, and only one, target: Prince. It seems a message for Prince, using the same strange ways used by Prince to deliver his messages.
But I repeat: this is just my opinion.
Hey all!
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to figure out what that message means. It is annoying the hell out of me because it is almost like playing with my emotions. If it does mean that HQ is comming back, then I think that Aaron should let us know that. I am so frustrated!! But, hello cateto :)
