Pentax K-7: HD video at 1080, "Superimpose AF area"

After looking carefully at the pictures posted in the Chinese blog discussed before, I found some of them being of special interest:

- First, the K-7 has output for video at full 1080 resolution; just have a look at this pic:

- Second, in one of the menus, there is the option of "Superimpose AF area", which might be (or not) related to the EVF idea discussed before:

  1. first pic you can see says HDMI out. that means what quality see on tv. not the video recording

  2. 1080i output doesn't mean 1080 video capturing. Many DSLRs without video at all do have this HDTV output to see photos on TV screen. I think it will be just 720p HD video capturing and 3:2 1024 as well.

And this is not too bad for me. It's some better then Canon 500D, much better then Nikon D90 and D5000; well, some worse then FF Canon 5D mark II and much worse then micro 3/4 Panas GH1.

Any time, it's a tradeoff. The "absolutely best" camera is a kind of Holy Grail. Compare all the features and chose the best one FOR YOU.

  3. K10D has a "Superimpose AF Area" menu item as well. On the K10D, it's just the red dots in the viewfinder indicating which AF sensor is being used.
