After months and months of speculation and mockup models shown at photography shows, it seems this time Pentax is actually going to release their medium-format 645D model. Nothing is clear at this point, but the above teaser in the official Pentax Japan site seems an indication that this model is going to be available in 2010, as previously announced.
To amateur photographers like me, this is just a dream (as neither my needs nor my budget put this camera in my wish list), but it seems there are many professional photographers who might be very, very interested. Furthermore, unconfirmed rumours suggest a retail price of about € 7,000, which is rather cheap considering the specifications of this camera.
All in all, I hope this will be a very successful model for Pentax and help them to recover the position longtime held by this legendary brand in photography.
