This year, my sister, my brother and me decided to get a brand new iPad 2 as gift for our parents. It just arrived today, and I am including some pictures and videos for them to enjoy. Later in the afternoon, I will go at their home to bring them their gift.
They never used a computer, and they are in the late 70s. So I think this can be a good device for them, who are interested in getting in touch with other friends by email, browsing the net, or looking at digital pictures (they complain all the time that, since purchasing digital cameras, we never give them pictures of their grandsons). Having no previous ideas on computers, I am eagerly awaiting to watch their reaction, and I plant to post here about the process of adaptation to the iPad.
Hey Cateto,
ReplyDeleteMy parents are in mid-late 60's and have zero experience with computers. Actually, I had lost faith in introducing them on it, but the iPad is a different think and it could work. Good idea!!
Please, keep us updated with your parents progress.
Hi Cateto,
ReplyDeleteI am planning to buy an I pad 2 for my parents. They are in their early 60's. They are very new to computers i.e email and IM's. My only worry with Ipad 2 :-
1) Is trouble shooting gonna be as easy as Computers (for my parents) ? eg what if wifi is not working or any application hangs?
2) Some features like Icon getting deleted by mistake. Eg if they press the round button and cancel the icons by mistake.
Whatever questions I have in mind, I still feel that parents should use such new generation devices.
Cateto,
I would like to now about the progress or experienece your parents had with Ipad till now. It will really help to make my decision.
Regards
Ashwin
Hi Ashwin,
ReplyDeleteI have posted two other articles on this topic, in this blog. If you have not read them, I suggest you to do it.
I might post something else soon, now that they have been playing with the iPad for a few months. I can advance that this gift could not have been more fitting and my father is making an extensive use of the iPad 2.
