Yesterday I hinted a housequake in Princeland, meaning a mindblowing soundboard recording of the 1984 birthday gig of Prince and The Revolution.
Today, I have read rather confusing news about Prince firing Live Nation (or maybe Live Nation firing Prince, we will see as this is unconfirmed at this time).
And curiously, it happens at the same time when Warner Brothers Records has been sold to a millionaire, Blavatnik, who reportedly intends to buy also EMI and then merge both companies, in an attempt to make them profitable. This could have deep consequences regarding the possible remasters of Prince catalogue, although it is completely unsure what could these consequences be.
I don't know where all of this is leading, but I do know that all these news together are close to another housequake in Princeland, this time maybe for not so good.
J. i don't understand your anxiety about the stories behind WB....Live Nation....and the consequences for Prince etc...
ReplyDeleteDo u know something for sure that u can't say for the moment or is this only speculations on your own about what the future might be for Prince in a not so good way?

I am not anxious, Stephan: just curious, since these are big changes that can affect the music (which is the only thing that matters to me).
ReplyDeleteHowever, given the recent stunning shows at the Troubadour club in LA, it seems such changes had a quite positive effect, so it must be all good. Anyway, there are many things happening behind the curtains, and we just know what gets published.
