Pictures of the new iPhone, leaked

As usual lately, pictures of what seems to be an authentic new iPhone have been leaked at the site iLab Factory, then reproduced at Appleinsider:

A full set of pictures is available here.

I'm no expert in fakes, but I think these pictures correspond to the real new iPhone (which BTW, following the example of the iPad, won't be the iPhone 5, but simply the new iPhone).

In short: It's an iPhone 4 with larger screen, the back in metal, smaller connector and obviously improved antenna. Which makes sense in my book. Put on top a speedier processor, a more powerful Siri, and you there have it. And then I guess we are missing one or two rabbits that Cook will get out of the hat during the new iPhone introduction in September.

Now, if this leak is for real as it seems, I guess the guys at Apple must be infuriated by now, and someobody is going to see the contracts cancelled in no time.

Los compadres, full series

From the creators of the stunning movie "El mundo es nuestro", here you have a compilation of all the short movies they did around the figures of two friends, called "Los compadres".

This is only for those of you who understand Spanish, but trust me: it is well worth to watch in full.

Shame at the parlament

Today, the main responsibles for banks that have been recently taken over by the Spanish state, are declaring at a comission in the parlament. One of them just finished a few minutes ago, the top guy at Nova Caixa Galicia, whose name is Gayoso. He answered no questions, admitted no responsability in any of the awful results, and according to him, all was right at the bank. Yet it had huge losses and it had to be rescued by the public institutions.

It is a shame that this kind of attitudes are accepted by the politicians, and nobody takes the due actions to put these shameless people at their place.

Ugly end of season: counting the hours until the bailout

This is being an ugly end of season: usually, the end of July is a period to wait for the holidays with the family and friends, with high expectations.

But in 2012, it's quite the opposite: we are having one bad news after the other, the economy goes worse and worse, there are salary reductions for public workers... and now, with the last increases in debt rates, the common consensus is that we are getting closer and closer to the official bailout, even if the government will try to disguise it by avoiding the term "bailout" at any price.

It's hard to get the hopes running these days. Hopefully one of these days, the European Union will realize they are playing with fire, and there is too much gasoline around.

Full frame Pentax DSLR to be introduced at Photokina?

That is the last rumour, originated at DCHome.net: a new, full frame Pentax DSLR in the most compact body for this kind of camera, using Sony's 24 Megapixels sensor (to be used in the forthcoming Sony A99) and with a new flash. Apparently Pentax can start using this sensor 6 months after the introduction of Sony model. Price is said to be around $ 2,800, and the camera would be on sale around March 2013. Further information at PhotoRumors.

Whether this makes sense or not, remains to be seen. I personally think that full frame cameras are not the hottest trend in town, but what do I know.

Pentax K-30 review posted at Pentaxforums.com

While it is advisable to look for further information (since some bias might be expected in a place called "Pentaxforums"), I think these guys posted a valuable review detailing plenty of good and not so good points of the new beast from Pentax. Well worth to read, and obviously a drooling item for me, in these troubled economy times.

Spiralling

The sad economic situation, and the draconian measures decided today by our government, made me remind this beauty of song from Antony. And that's exactly how I feel about our economy, today: we're spiralling towards the catastrophe, if all they can think is to make cuts and more cuts on the budget of even the most essential things.

It's time for a new beginning, and I don't know when the guys at Brussels and Berlin will realize about it.

Sony RX100: the holy grail among pocket cameras?

That's at least what suggest recent reviews, as this one at Luminous Landscape, and also previous comments from David Pogue at The New York Times. $ 650 are still a bit pricey, but it seems if you're after top-notch quality that does not require a bag to transport, this should be high in your shopping list.

Is this the new VW Golf? Wrong: the new Mercedes Class A

In a curious case of lost identity, the brand new Mercedes Class A, in its rear view, seems to me an updated version of the uberclassic Volkswagen Golf. I don't really understand where the Mercedes designers wanted to go, but in my opinion, this is a clear failure.

They are cutting at the wrong places

It's time to cut politicians away:

Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion (Golden Master) available to developers

According to different sources, the Golden Master of Mac OS X 10.8 has been submitted to developers. I installed it yesterday and apparently everything is working fine, founding no bugs at all in my daily work with the computer.

In previous developers versions of Mountain Lion, I could find some buts preventing from adequately restoring disk images on flash drives. But this seems to have been ironed out.

All in all, this seems a very solid update to OS X, although I still think that the loss of the Activity panel in Safari is a step backward, not forward.

Rajoy announces deep cuts in Spain's budget

As widely expected, Rajoy appeared today at the congress to announce further, deeper cuts in the budget of Spain. The goal is to save 65,000 millions of euros.

I'm convinced this is completely wrong and we are going to worsen things, so that the economic depression will get even bigger. And unfortunately, it seems nobody in Europe realizes that it's time for a change: to forget about inflation and spend public money to reinvigorate economies, before the catastrophe arrives.

Interview with Ferrán Adriá: When a genius speaks, it's time to listen

Canon mirrorless to be announced on July 23?

At least, that is suggested by the guys at Canon Rumors, who say that a new mirrorless camera and a few lenses will be officially announced that day.

I guess this has many signs to become true, given the huge delay of the big gorilla Canon to enter the growing field of mirrorless cameras, where all other major brands have at least one model in the category.

El mundo es nuestro, a must-see Spanish film

Yesterday we watched El mundo es nuestro, a film produced by crowd-funding and directed by a new director, Alfonso Sánchez, who participates also as one of the main actors in the movie. We had heard positive comments about it, but I must say we were all blown away by the funny dialogues, and mostly by the stunning quality of the script, including smart critics to pretty much all the Spanish society of today, and including also some really fun analysis of specific sides of Sevilla, where the movie happens.

All in all it was a magnificent spectacle, and I think it can be compared without shame to the best efforts from legends like Berlanga and Azona, which is major words.

These guys have uploaded many short videos at youtube, where they have been developing these roles. I suggest you have a look if you understand Spanish: it is well worth the time, and I've got the feeling these guys will be very famous in the next year

Interview with Felipe González in tve

With the passing of time, and with the miserable level of current leaders in Europe, the political figure of Felipe González is getting bigger and bigger.

Yesterday he was interviewed by Ana Pastor in the tv program Los desayunos, in the public chain Televisión Española.

Fiat 500XL, the forthcoming MPV from Fiat

Now that the Fiat 500L is being officially introduced, I found out that there are projects for a bigger version, called Fiat 500XL. I could find a picture of a real size maquette, and it is the definitive evidence that my much beloved Fiat Multipla and its countless talents for a family of 6 will not be continued, much to my disgust. The picture was taken during a visit to the central headquarters of Fiat's design team.

Anyway, at least this new range of cars means that a fresh style is invading Fiat, after the very mediocre style of the previous middle size MPV, the Fiat Idea.

Higgs boson discovered at CERN

In what might be one of the boldest news for science in a long time, the CERN announced today that they found evidences of the existence of Higgs boson. The news are everywhere in the net, for instance here.

A true legend in the world of automobile has died after an accident. Rest in peace: he was responsible for many dreams among car lovers worldwide.

New Renault Clio 2012

This is what I call a bold step forward for Renault: After years where seemingly their designers were a bit lost on what direction to go, this time they have a winner, with a remarkable personality which will attract buyers, for sure.

First review of Pentax K30 at Photo District News

In the middle of rumours on the actual release of the new Pentax K30, Photo District News have published their review of the new camera, and apart of some specific issues (possibly due to using an early firmware), they seem overall rather happy with the K30.

More lies from the Partido Popular

This video has been made by the PSOE, so expect all bias. Yet it shows just another wave of lies from the Partido Popular, who denied countless times to accept the additional payment for drugs, only to announce them recently:

Paul Krugman: "Spain's disgrace is that it does not depend from itself anymore"

Controversies aside, the words of Krugman are always worth to read/listen. Here you have a recent interview he gave, when promoting his last book, "Solve this crisis, NOW!":
